How to Carry Someone in Any Emergency

You may not think its possible to carry someone that is bigger than you but carrying someone bigger or heavier than you is a lot easier than you may think.

Fireman and service men in the army learn how to carry people.  They have to learn because often in their work that is the only way to get a person out of harms way and get them the help they need in emergencies.

Step 1                                                                 
Getting Into Right Position to Lift a Person

Take the person and get them on their feet the best way you can.  Put their arm around your neck and shoulder using the strongest side of your body.

If your right handed put their arm over your right shoulder.

If your left handed put their arm over your left shoulder.

If you look at the illustration you will see how to position the person your trying to lift.

Step 2
Getting Ready to Lift from Abdomen to Position on the Shoulder


Stand directly in front of the person pulling your body away from them while positioning yourself to lower your shoulder to the lowest part of their abdomen.

Step 3
Positioned and Ready to Lift Person     

Keep your knees bent to a comfortable position.  Lift with your legs and hips. (not your back)
While positioning the person on your shoulder for balancing.  Get the person balanced comfortably so that your are comfortable to run or walk in an emergency.
