Caring for Parents vs Nursing Home Care

Most people would say they would never put their parent or parents in a nursing home.  I know I was one of those people!

It's easy to say but not easy to do!  Being a caretaker is a full-time job.  As time goes by the stress gets worse.  It never gets better!

Specially when your elderly parent is seeing more doctors and being put on more medications.  If your parent has Alzheimer's which is a progressive disease.  Your problems will get worse.

You as a caretaker will have lots of concerns.  Such as your parents finances so you will have to get power of attorney.  A will should be made up especially if you plan to care for your parents in the home.

You should also be concerned about safety.  Your house should be child proof.  You should also be aware that you could easily be accused of abuse of the elderly as a caretaker.

Elderly bruise very easily and it is very difficult to tell whether or not an elderly person is being abused or not.  It is very difficult to prove you are not abusing your elderly parent.  You should always document any accidents and witness.
